Thankful for Youth Ministers

At some point in my Youth Ministry I heard a quote that has become a sustaining quote for my ministry:

“To be a leader is to be misunderstood.”

I took this to heart and determined that there may not be anyone on a church staff that is more misunderstood than a Youth Minister. It’s not that we should feel sorry for ourselves, it’s just those we work with have so many things going on in their life. Youth Ministry is challenging.

In many ways, it’s the reason we do this BECAUSE there is so much going on. But there are also so many possibilities.

This Thanksgiving, know that I am thankful for you and for your call to work with students. Thank you for your sacrifice and for believing more in the possibilities than the problems.
