Legacies Are For Everyone.
The best time to plant an oak tree was 10 years ago, the next best time…………………..today!
Senior Sunday has the potential to be one of the high moments in our student ministries but often it just isn’t. I’ll be the first to admit that each year I fight the tendency to say, “Who is this kid?” or
“Where have they been?” and leave it at that rather than enjoying their class legacy.
Legacies are important to churches and even student ministries.
I’m wondering if there is a way to focus each class on creating and leaving their legacy in our churches and communities. If done well, I could envision a student returning for Homecoming with their children driving up to a park and admiring a line of trees that their Youth Ministry class planted their Senior year.
I guess what I’m getting at is let’s not lower our expectations for students as they grow older in our ministry. While we are at it, let’s not leave the responsibilities of building a legacy to our adults.
