Strategic use of FOMO

I occasionally hear Youth Ministers complaining about student attendance at their weekly “front door event.” The frustration is fair if you are trying to do something to correct it. Otherwise you're just complaining.

This spring I started exploring the concept of FOMO as a part of strategic outreach in Student Ministry.

Most often, the problem is that we offer the same things every week and if a student misses, they haven’t really missed anything.

Strategic thinking might ask: what can we do in our programming that students will talk about tomorrow.

This is not an easy task but give it a few tries. There’s no need to try it every week, but choose a few strategic opportunities and give it a go.
